GwenI am an Associate Professor of Sociology at Nevada State College, a public four-year college in Henderson, Nevada. I’m also Chair of the Department of Social Sciences and Business Administration, a multidisciplinary department that includes psychology, sociology, criminal justice, anthropology, political science, public administration, communications, college preparedness, and business courses. As the only sociologist on campus I teach a number of courses related to the sociology minor, including Principles of Sociology, Gender and Society, Racial and Ethnic Conflict in the U.S., Social Inequality, Popular Culture, and Sex and Social Relations.

I received my degree in 2005 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, specializing in the sociology of agriculture. My research interests include the U.S. beef industry, technological adoption and innovation in agriculture, land ownership by racial and ethnic minorities in rural areas, gender and sexuality, and effective pedagogical techniques.
